When your COAM agreement is ending
Start with your own agreement: find its end date and its notice terms. We can help once the term is up. We won't encourage anyone to break an agreement, so if yours is still running, keep to it and talk to an attorney about your options.

Where do I find my end date and notice terms?
In your written agreement. Georgia requires one between the location and the current master licensee, and a copy has to be available for inspection at your business (GLC FAQ). Any agreement entered into or renewed after May 3, 2016 has to run at least one year (GLC guide).
Read for four things: the end date, whether it renews on its own, how much notice it asks for, and how notice has to be given. If you can't find your copy, ask the master licensee for one. Have an attorney read anything that isn't clear.
Does my location license stay with my business?
Your location license is issued for your business address and State Tax Identifier number, and it isn't transferable. Moving the business takes a new license (GLC FAQ). So the license belongs with your business at that address, and the machines belong to the master licensee.
What has to happen before machines change?
A location licensee can't remove or replace COAMs unless both the master licensee and the location licensee certify to the Georgia Lottery that there's no dispute between them. Both use forms from the Georgia Lottery's COAM website (GLC FAQ).
If either side can't certify that, the matter goes to arbitration. Class B machines have to stay connected to the central accounting terminal in the location until the dispute is decided (GLC FAQ; GLC guide). If the Georgia Lottery contacts a master licensee about a certification and it doesn't respond within five calendar days, the Georgia Lottery treats that as no dispute (GLC FAQ).
The usual order: meet the current agreement's terms, including its non-renewal notice window. Then a Change of Master form goes to the Georgia Lottery, and the current operator has 5 days to agree or dispute (Change of Master form; GLC FAQ). A dispute goes to arbitration. When it's agreed, the old operator removes the machines on a scheduled date and the new one installs, usually within about a week, so plan on about a week with no machines.
What should I ask before signing a new agreement?
The term and renewal, service response, redemption setup, accounting and payment timing, and removal and assignment. We wrote these out in questions to ask before you sign. The split is set by law, so it isn't something to negotiate (Lottery for Education Act).
How can you help once the term is up?
Tell us your end date on the form. We check your state and local rules, and once your term is up, we tell you which licensed operator we recommend, the licensed operator that serves your area and type of business, and get your OK before they contact you. We don't charge venues.
If your agreement still has time to run, we'll note the date and contact you near the end of the term, only if you ask us to.
Questions about an agreement that's ending
Can you help me get out of my agreement early?
No. We won't encourage anyone to break an agreement. If you think yours has a problem, talk to an attorney.
Do I need a new location license when my agreement ends?
The license is tied to your business address and State Tax Identifier number, and it isn't transferable (GLC FAQ). When only the master licensee changes at the same address, the step is a Change of Master form to the Georgia Lottery (Change of Master form).
What if my master licensee disagrees that the agreement has ended?
If either side can't certify that there's no dispute, it goes to arbitration, and Class B machines stay connected until it's decided (GLC FAQ).
